Sculptra is a volumizer rather than an injectable toxin or filler. It restores lost volume to the face following years of sun damage as well as other factors such as skin type, genetics, and general aging. Sculptra lifts and tightens, and remains a renowned product among dermatologists all over the globe.

Dr. Kopelson is well-trained in the specifics of Sculptra injections, and is pleased to offer the procedure, as many plastic surgery and dermatology clinics do not. Because Dr. Kopelson has performed Sculptra treatments for so long, his innovative injection techniques create the beautiful results patients crave.

Sculptra is a safe product comprised of poly-L-lactic acid. This acid has been utilized in absorbable sutures for over 50 years, making it one of the safest anti-aging injections currently available. The injectable was approved as a volumizing option in 2004, and for cosmetic application in 2009.

How Does the Product Work?

The injectable works by replenishing lost collagen, a substance responsible for keeping skin tight, smooth, and supple. Collagen breaks down due to age and sun exposure, leaving skin saggy, wrinkled, and sunken. Sculptura replaces lost collagen and requires three staggered treatments to achieve desired effects.

Where Is It Used?

Aging and sun damage result in volume lost around the cheek area, jawline, chin, and temples. Sculptra restores lost volume to naturally lift and tighten these areas.

Are Results Immediate?

One of the ways Sculptra is dissimilar from other wrinkle fillers is that results are not instant. It works by slowly stimulating collagen production to restore volume over a three-month timeframe. Changes are never severe or dramatic during this time, you simply look fabulous once the three month period is complete!

Do Sculptra Injections Hurt?

Dr. Kopelson uses an extremely fine needle to deliver injections, and infuses them with an anesthetic. So while slight pain may be felt initially, it quickly subsides.

How Long Does Treatment Last?

Treatment lasts up to two years, though a touch-up may be required at the year mark depending on the patient. Remaining diligent about The Kopelson Clinic’s prescribed skin care regimen is also essential to enjoy lasting results.

What Are the Side Effects?

Side effects are mild and can include injection site bruising, swelling, itching, and redness. These effects usually last for a few days. Sculptra is not recommended if you have hypertrophic or keloid scarring, or are allergic to poly-L-lactic acid. Some patients have reported feeling a bump following an injection, however this side effect is rare. It is also not visible and eventually disappears. Dr. Kopelson will inform you of necessary steps following treatment.

Recovery Period

Recovery depends on the patient, though all may resume normal activities following the procedure. Dr. Kopelson will ensure the product is deposited evenly and use a massage technique that must be adhered to in the days after treatment. Called the “Rule of 5,” you must massage affected areas in a circular motion with moisturized fingers for five minutes, five times a day, for five days.
